Ancient Rome

In this week´s episode Theo, Tess and Quentin travel to the past. They go to ancient Rome, to a time when the city was at the centre of the huge Roman empire also called Imperium Romanum. At that time, Latin was still spoken in Rome. This language influences – to this day – the composition, structure and vocabulary of many languages such as English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese or German.

Volcanoes

In today´s episode Theo, Tess and Quentin get to the bottom of volcanoes. A volcanic eruption can destroy huge areas, even entire islands. However, it can also make regions fertile and supply us with energy.

This week Theo, Tess and Quentin really let off steam. Three are tracking the history and development of the railway. And they quickly find out: without rails there wouldn´t be an InterCity Express!

Quentin, Theo and Tess are tracing the moon´s secrets. Why does the moon shine so brightly? Is there life on moon? What is the moon made of? Only a journey to the moon could answers these questions – the USA prepared for such a flight.

This time Theo, Tess and Quentin are on an adventurous excursion of the oceans. They´re on the track of sharks. Sharks are the perfect hunters of the seven seas. They create fear – but they can also fascinate.

This week Theo, Tess and Quentin travel to the past. They deal with the Middle Ages, some 700 years of knights and castles.

Criminalistics

Theft and fraud, robbery and murder – these crimes are as old as humanity. The criminologist shall resolve them and bring felons to justice. Theo, Tess and Quentin accompany criminal detectives on the job.

Mummies

Theo, Tess and Quentin dare an adventure in Egypt. They accompany researchers to the Valley of Kings. There the archaeologists dig for mummies to learn more about the culture of ancient Egypt. Their journey leads them to the pyramids.

Reptiles

In this episode Tess, Theo and Quentin deal with toads, serpents, lizards and tortoises. These are all reptiles and amphibians, and among the oldest animals on earth. Some have a slimy skin, others look like monsters from primeval times, but they all have fascinating abilities.

Horses

About 4000 years ago, humans recognised horse´s use for agriculture as well as for pulling and riding. For millennia, horses were the most important means of transportation. Since the invention of automobiles and machines, horses are used only seldom, for example by the police or in forestry. Most often, however, they are to be found in sports and as a hobby.

Earth

Quentin, Theo and Tess are tracing Earth´s secrets. As far as we know the only planet on which life is possible is earth. What is it made of? What are continents and where do oceans come from?

Indians

This time Theo, Tess and Quentin follow in the tracks of Indians. Indians have been living on the American continent for 30,000 years. They believe that the earth belongs to all of us. However, this didn´t interest the Europeans who settled America hundreds of years ago.

Ships

Full steam ahead for Theo, Tess and Quentin in this episode on ships. They examine the different types of ships, want to explain how ships can swim in spite of their weight and want to find out how the different ships are propelled. Alright then – let´s set sail....

Trees

Trees are of vital importance for us. They are a habitat for animals and other plants. We use their wood to build ships, houses, furniture or musical instruments; birds use them for their nests and beavers for their dams. We make paper from wood. Trees provide food to both animals and humans. And trees produce the oxygen we need for breathing, and they also clean the air.

Spiders

Many people are afraid of spiders; they actually have unbelievable abilities. Only very few are dangerous to humans and they are extremely useful animals, because they kill pests. Their body is one of nature´s true pieces of art. Ingenious hunting methods and protective tactics help the 8-legged spiders to survive in the most unusual places.

Pirates

In this episode we deal with the rulers of the sea – pirates. The word pirate comes from the Greek and means “adventurer”. During the past centuries they spread fear and terror throughout the seas. Their life depended on how well they knew the waters and how well they could fight.

Computers & Robots

Computers and robots are part of our everyday life. Whether we listen to music, make a telephone call, wash our laundry, go online or play: we use computer technology in countless devices. But the technology of computers and robots advances so swiftly.

Our body

More than 6 billion people live on earth. Each of them is unique. They all talk, run, and laugh in their own way while looking differently. But in spite of the differences: all human bodies have the same design Every body consists of billions of extremely small cells. Each cell is the smallest unit of the design and has a specific task. All work together in a team and make our body function smoothly.

Dinosaur

They were the largest animals ever to live on land: the dinosaurs. The word dinosaur comes from the Greek and means ”fearsome reptile”. Many different dinosaur kinds developed over a period of 160 million years. Then, 65 million years ago, they became extinct.
